Kyudo treats the bow, the eight stages of shooting and etiquette as one connected act. Competitive archery focuses on its event rules, aiming equipment and score comparison.

Distance and aiming

Kyudo distance and facilities depend on the level, dojo and event. Archery distance and target also vary by discipline, so one distance cannot represent both sports.
